“You can’t gamify boring.” That was the line Sam used to conclude his sessions in San Francisco and in Minneapolis at the 7th Annual Digital Marketing for Medical Devices East and West Shows.

To a large audience of medical device marketers, Sam started by discussing the impact and milestones of the video game industry. For decades, the industry has been evolving rapidly, testing new ideas, working to understand every way in which the brain functions and ultimately has distilled a solution for engaging users and changing their behavior. With 10s of millions of users spending endless hours playing video games, the industry is now a multi-billion dollar industry.

In a time when physicians are becoming increasingly more difficult to reach and engage, it is even more critical to take the learnings of the video game industry and apply them to medicine.

Sam walked the audience through the toolbox the video game industry has assembled and how it can be applied to medical education to help physicians hone in on their skills, practice using new devices and change behavior.

Level Ex met with representatives from Medtronic, Boston Scientific, Philips, GE Healthcare, Stryker, and many others at the show to share what we’re working on and how we can help med device companies create innovative solutions to showcase their products and its benefits to improve product competency and change physician behaviors.
