We’re looking for a talented, problem-solving Graphics/Shader Engineer to join our team.

Position Summary

Level Ex is looking for talented software engineers to work on next-generation, ultra-realistic 3D surgical simulators. Utilize cutting edge game engines, graphics, and physics techniques to create stunning simulations of the human body.

As a shader engineer, your role involves recreating elements of the human body in extreme detail in a real-time rendered environment: including tissue, blood, and fluids. Shader engineers utilize the latest computer graphics and shading techniques to achieve unprecedented realism.

Join a seasoned team of game and simulation developers to push the bleeding edge of simulated surgery and save some lives while doing it.

What You’ll Be Doing With Us

  • Create new shaders, shader nodes, and materials for a wide range of surfaces and visual effects under senior technical direction

  • Work closely with the art team to prototype new techniques and establish texture/modeling pipelines for production shaders

  • Implement performance optimizations and fallbacks for older devices

Who We Want To Meet

  • BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent

  • Experience authoring shaders in HLSL, GLSL and/or Cg.

  • Strong 3D math skills (linear algebra, matrix/vector math, trigonometry, etc.)

  • Background in computer graphics, including the fundamentals of lighting models, raytracing, rasterization, texture mapping, and shading

  • Basic understanding of GPU architecture

  • Familiarity with shader performance and debugging tools

Bonus Points Awarded For

  • Experience with visual shader editors (ShaderMonkey, Unreal, ShaderForge)

  • Unity experience

  • Mobile shader development/optimization experience

  • 3D Graphics API experience (OpenGL or DirectX)

  • Metal experience
